When a marriage meant a merger of two distinct household styles, Kyle and Susan Bridgefarmer found their common style by taking the old and making it new. From reupholstered couches to repainted and repurposed furniture, the couple eventually created a home that reflected their shared love of creating their own custom lifestyle. Summer trips to Nantucket inspired the master bedroom, bedecked with vintage signal flags hanging from the exposed cathedral ceiling beams. A dining room set from the '80s was transformed into a colorful, playful place at which to dine.
If synergy is defined as the whole being greater than the sum of two parts, then the Bridgefarmers found a perfect way to blend their individual talents to create a business that is pure partnership. Kyle's background as an architect, developer and builder and Susan's marketing career along with their passion for remodeling, helped fuel the concept of When I Was Your Age. A home furnishings business with a flexible, customizable flare.
Eventually their designs made their way into stores and a business was born. Products are inspired by the couples love of making something out of nothing. "Even though each piece we make now is custom and made-to-order, they all reflect that classic Yankee ingenuity. We take a basic product and transform it through color and embellishments. The idea is to walk into a room and have an environment that entertains the eye. "
